Whoa, this is a big question lol! And my answer would probably change if you asked me again tomorrow... :) SBut off the top of my head, spiritual means to me - a way of life, a lessening of anxiety in the knowledge that there's something greater than us, a feeling of comfort and security, a sense of excitement and adventure, appreciation for life, permission to be who I am. All of this and much more! Helena :)
I am a Senior Lecturer in Health and Wellbeing at The Open University. Formerly Lecturer in Health Geographies at the University of Manchester, the driving theme underpinning my research is a curiosity for how people, communities and organisations interact around issues of illness, health and wellbeing. This has led to a range of studies exploring ME, parenting, sexuality, spirituality and public health. A geographer by training, I have a particular interest in qualitative research methodologies, and have developed a method for ‘mapping’ data analysis, which I use to visualize the worlds of experience revealed through my research, where the physical, socio-cultural, subjective and otherworldly intersect.
